All dog people have a little obsession with images that look like their own dog, but I think Dachshund owners take it to the next level.
Maybe it’s because their shape is visually compelling. After all, dachshund owners are a little crazy. My entire news feed is filled with doxie videos and gear ads. It’s all so tempting and oh-so cute! I was curious where I fell on the craziness spectrum, so I decided to scour my house for any evidence of dachshund memorabilia. Come along with me on this journey of self-reflection and rate my level of craziness!

You’ll have to let me know what you think, but I feel like my collection is “reasonable”. I’d give myself a 5 on a scale of 1-10 for craziness. Each family member of the house has 1-2 articles of clothing each (seems reasonable?) I am slightly embarrassed that I don’t have a single photo printed anywhere in the house of any of my living pups.
I do have a mini-shrine in my office dedicated to my Whitley girl. I’m so lucky to have the talented Angela Owen in my family. She painted this picture of her for us to remember her sweetness (yes this is hand-painted)!
You’ll have to let me know how you did on your own self-exploration journey! In the meantime, I keep hoping that mainstream manufactures still consider our beloved wiener dogs in future patterns / designs 🙂
